Stephen a.k.a. bostonapothecary is a young restaurant worker residing in Boston, MA. Stephen is a kinky eater, never passing up offal and a roughneck drinker, always preferring a cape verdean agardiente or batavia arrack van oosten to bacardi… He is a new flavor fetishist and an amateur food scientist.

Stephen’s work tries to bring a plane conscious focus to the creation of spatial effect in drinks.  Bringing technologies from the wine industry helps isolate and impact the planes.   Overall the goal is to turn what were only dreams… into drinks.

  1. Hi, Stephen
My girlfriend Felicia and I were at your restaurant over the July 4th weekend … 1/2 sinner 1/2 saint, and that wonderful smoky, earthy single malt-based creation for which we’d love to have the recipe (Bob Burns?).

Very cool meeting you - we had a great time … thanks!

  4. i detailed the drink in the “after midnight kind of flavors” article… i have a feeling you will be able to find the vergano “americano” in NYC… you can get tiny jars of chestnut flower honey at wholefoods. i also used dried apricots from whole foods.

  5. I just came across your blog while attempting to discover some reference materials to feed my aspirations of being a success at botanical cocktails. I bartend in Philadelphia, but was trained at the bare minimum and have been making my own way ever since. I have the natural tendency to make drinks well– and to experiment when the bar is slow. But what I really want is to fully understand how apothecary and herbal ingredients function with liqueurs. Can you suggest any method/reference book/etc.? I want to learn as much as I can so that I qualify for bars like Apothecary Lounge. Thanks!
And Love your blog, by the way.
